Pastor’s Thought For Today – March 25th

Preacher:
Passage: Luke 22

Pastor's Thought For Today - March 25th

"Asleep or Awake to His Presence?"

I was just reading in Luke chapter 22 about the disciples sleeping while Jesus went off to pray.  Obviously the circumstances were different but I think the issue is the same. Though Jesus is in heaven interceding for us (Heb.7:25) and waiting to come for us, we as his disciples face the constant barrage of temptations that challenge our fellowship with God.  Prayer is our lifeline of fellowship with Him and others.  Honestly prayer is hard work for a multitude of reasons, not the least of which is our ideas of instantaneous results.  I think it is easy for Jesus to "find us sleeping from the sorrow or grief" (v.45) of seemingly unanswered prayer.  Sometimes think that we, like them, really don't understand who He is and what He was and is about to do in our lives.

If we allow the enemy to lull us to sleep in our prayer life he can cut off our consciousness awareness of His presence which is the true joy and goal of the Christian life.  He promised: "And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him. They shall see His face, and His name shall be on their foreheads. There shall be no night there: They need no lamp nor light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light. And they shall reign forever and ever."

You think about that!

Let's give'em heaven and keep some for ourselves.
